A new school year underway! Fashion conscious young women can head back to school in style with fresh new haircuts, styles or trendy treatments. The best of these are cute, sassy AND easy.
Whether your natural locks are long, short, straight or curly, you can add some spice to your hairstyle. Here are some suggestions for a back to school fresh look from the stylists at Hier and Haines:
Not Your Little Sister’s Braids
Fishtail braids – slightly messy for a “boho” look – work for both long and short hair. Loosely braid your hair and pull out the sides to leave some cool flyaway wisps. Let your short hairs go free and add to this edgy style…the more tousled the better.
Use your braids to make an updo. It’s easy. Just braid two 1-inch sections on each side of your head and pull it all back into a low bun. Or cross the braids on top to make a crown. Add a few loose wisps and your braid hairstyle has a romantic look that outshines other party updos.
Want a super easy hairstyle for your medium to long hair? Wash your hair at night and braid when wet. In the morning, undo the braids, and shake it free for a perfectly tousled “bedhead.” For longer hair, four braided buns, two on each side will give you a more natural wavy look.
More Bang With Your Fringe
Hairstyles with bangs are back in fashion. Ask your stylist for a thick, blunt cut fringe. If you really want to show it off, pull the rest of your hair back into a ponytail! Not ready for such a bold statement? Try a longer angled trim so the bangs can blend in or be tucked behind an ear. Is your cut short and sweet? With a bit of pomade you can sculpt gentle spikes for a power pixie look.
Highlights for the Young and Trendy
Highlighting techniques have come a long way. Start with Ombre… add pastels…move on to splashlights. This new technique creates a horizontal strip of bleached hair that encircles the head – a look inspired by a laser beam. It may be the hottest hair trend for the fall.
Emo for the Super Chic
Short choppy layers and edgy angled bangs are the key to the edgy chic Emo look. Add pastel highlights to your jet black hair for a really fun and cool style. To complete the hip look, wear a full fringe over one eye.
